About me

Originally from Florida, USA, I have called the UK home since 2011.
Growing up, I had a keen sense of adventure, and took advantage of any and all opportunities to travel. I first came to London as a study abroad student, and fell in love with the UK. I knew that was where I wanted to be, and finally made the leap across the pond in 2011.
Living abroad has come with a unique set of challenges. It’s been the source of the most exhilarating and most frustrating moments of my life. But it continues to present me with opportunities for reflection, change and growth, and I’m forever grateful to my younger self for taking the chance.
I enjoyed a varied career before retraining as a counsellor. I’ve been a teacher, and have worked in higher education administration and professional regulation. I’ve always been drawn to helping people become the best versions of themselves, and I especially love working with people in their 20s and 30s to build self-esteem. My own positive and helpful experiences in therapy compelled me to eventually become a therapist myself.
Outside of the therapy room, I’m a board member of the More To Life UK Foundation, a non-profit personal development organisation. I’m also an avid reader, yoga practitioner and music lover.
My qualifications
I hold a Level 4 diploma in therapeutic counselling, a B.A. in history, and an M.Ed. in social science education.
I follow the ethical standards set by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I’m fully insured and professionally supervised.
The ‘Sabal’ in Sabal Counselling refers to the Florida state tree, the sabal palm. Native to Florida, it can now be found flourishing in the British Isles.
